- Minimize Spam Complaints & Improve eMail Deliverability -
|
Email Marketing today is much tougher than it used to be. Of course spam complaints are the biggest “pain” when using Email Marketing. But there is an additional issue many Internet Marketers are unaware of … the volume of email you send can actually hurt you.
Most spam complaints come from AOL users (including AIM users) and Hotmail users. This is because they position the “report spam” button right next to the “delete” button.
Most users don’t know how detrimental that little button can be, so instead of manually unsubscribing from your list (or even archive/deleting the email) they’ll just hit the spam button and move on.
This situation can be REALLY bad for IM’ers regardless of the autoresponder service or script used.
You see, Aweber (for example) will force your WHOLE account to be double optin (meaning each new signup will have to confirm his subscription) if your spam complaint gets to high.
Some service providers and web hosting services will shut you down when just a few complaints come in.
Additionally many ISP’s and free email providers do something else that will kill your marketing efforts. Yahoo for example will only allow X number of emails to come through in X amount of time then you will be “greylisted” (click that link to read more) for X amount of time then your messages will go to your subscribers then the process starts all over again. That will kill “timely delivery” and if your offer is time sensitive you risk making your subscribers angry.
Yahoo isn’t the only one doing this and to be honest they are actually the nicest about it. Some ISP’s like AT&T, Comcast, & Roadrunner (RR) to name a few will permanently block you when you reach their “limit”. To add insult to the issue they rarely will respond to inquiries as to why you are blocked.
These issue will occur regardless of double opt-in and traditional responsible email practices.
So what is a honest Internet Marketer to do? Fortunately you can use the Subscription Router software to minimize both situations.
Here’s how it works:
NOTE: Specific advice for each AR service and ISP is out of the scope of this document. Generally speaking you can follow these steps to minimize the impact of either spam complaints or greylisting. The secret is to create duplicate autoresponders for different ISP’s … The messages are the same but the timing of the messages is different. For example you could have your main AR with a daily schedule for 5 days/messages then every 3-5 days for the next 5. The duplicate/cloned AR, either within the same system or at a different provider, for AOL and Yahoo subscribers is on a 3 days schedule for the first 5 messages then weekly for the remaining 5.
Of course this is work intensive because the subscription form can only go to one AR.
But not any more …
… Subscription Router will now handle this for you automatically!!! By using Subscription Router you can set all subscribers who have email addresses at the problem providers go to the cloned autoresponder and all others will go to your main autoresponder. This will save you a TON of Spam Complaints from the “heavy spam button hitting” email users and minimize Greylisting.
Setup of Subscription Router is pretty easy but we have no way to guess the skill level of every buyer and there may be some of you who just don’t want to mess with it. If this includes you we would be more than happy to install Subscription Router for a small fee.
We have included several sample files for you. If you find your autoresponder service/script isn’t included please send us a note by Clicking Here! If we do not have a sample of your subscription form code we will modify it for free and include it with the system.
PLEASE BE AWARE that we may already have the sample file someone else has sent us but hasn’t been included with the download. In that case we will send you the sample file via email.
