Are Autoresponders An Important Asset To Your Business?

Monday, January 25th, 2010

Autoresponders are an important asset to an Internet Marketer.
When I heard that statement, I said, “Okay – great! What is it!”
For all those new to the Internet arena, I’ll try to explain
what autoresponders are, how they can be used, and how it can
benefit your online business.

What Are Autoresponders?

Autoresponders automate the process of following up e-mail
marketing leads. Email autoresponders are special email
addresses that returns a message or set of messages in response
to any email that is sent to the autoresponder’s address. When
your business is slow or just beginning you may be hesitate to
use this tool. But be assured as your business grows, you’ll
find a use.

Who Supplies Autoresponders?

Where do you get autoresponders? Well, they are as close as your
web host. Yes, most web hosts have autoresponders – it is only
limited by the number of email addresses your host provides you.
For example, my webhost allows me 100 email addresses. Thus, I
have the opportunity, if I so wish, to create 100 autoresponders.

However, there is one small drawback to webhost autoresponders -
you are limited only to one message per autoresponder, without
the possibility of a follow-up email to your prospects.

But there are other avenues in which you can consider. Such as:

1. You can incorporate a free autoresponder. Freeautobots.com
offers a free service — that is free of advertisements, and
supplies you with the server to store your leads on. 2. You can
purchase the software. This software can be placed on your
computer, or again, you can purchase an online service, and all
your information will be stored on the server where you
purchased the service.

As you can see there are advantages and disadvantages of each.
And only you will know which will best fit your needs,
circumstances, expertise and budget.

How Do I An Autoresponder?

.. When I heard the word autoresponder, I didn’t have a clue of
how to use them, or if it was relevant to my business. Pretty
green, wasn’t I. Well, an autoresponder can be a great
automation tool to any business.

Let me give you some examples of the versatility of this tool.

1. Used by people who are away. They use it to notify the sender
that they are away on vacation, their desk, etc. 2. Used as a
business tool — a. Gives responders business information -
pricing lists, resumes b. Collect names and email addresses c.
Use for training d. Give away free reports e. FAQ (if
appropriate) f. Auto-send your article submissions

As you can see there are many uses, all of which, keeps you in
contact with your visitors and/or prospective leads, and the
promotion of your products, services and business. And, as to
free or paid – that assessment will be directly determined by
the growth of your business – and of course, your budget.

To conclude, the use of autoresponders is only limited by your
imagination and your ethics. Yes, ethics. Do not go crazy with
this tool – it is to be used to help your business – so be aware
of spam – and it’s dos’ and don’ts – and this tool will work for
you.

To your success.

Using Free Autoresponders

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010

If you’ve looked at the prices of autoresponders that are available online, you may have decided to search for and use a free autoresponder for your marketing needs. Using free autoresponders is acceptable in certain situations, and in the world of Internet marketing, any autoresponder is better than not using an autoresponder at all!

Your first option for a free autoresponder should be the one that comes with your webhosting account – if you have a webhosting account. These autoresponders can easily be set up through the control panel of your website, and they do not contain advertisements from the autoresponder company or webhosting service. If you do not have a hosting account, or your hosting account does not include autoresponders, there are other options that you can pursue.

There are many free autoresponder services to choose from. These services are free, because the company makes their money by placing a small advertisement in each message that your autoresponder sends out. These advertisements may appear at the top of your auto responses, or at the bottom, depending on which company you use.

Many paid autoresponder services offer a free version as well. These free versions may or may not include advertisements in the outgoing messages. These lighter versions of the paid autoresponders typically do not include many of the powerful features of the paid versions. But if you don’t need the more advanced features, this is a great choice.

Most free autoresponders have a limit on the number of subscribers you can have. Many people start out with the limited free versions, and then upgrade to the paid versions once their lists are large enough to exceed those limits. Many marketers don’t feel that the expense of the autoresponder is warranted until the list that they are building is turning a profit. From a business standpoint, this makes sense.

As the owner of a business, you are the only one who can decide whether you need a paid autoresponder service, or if a free one will do the job. If your list is small, a free autoresponder should do everything that you need it to do, but as your list grows, you should definitely consider upgrading. However, having the small advertisements that the free services place in the outgoing messages may present a problem if the ads compete with what you are trying to sell. They may even pose a problem if they do not directly compete with your product or business. Again, this depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your autoresponder.

Scheduling Autoresponder Messages

Thursday, January 21st, 2010

Introduction

The extreme versatility of autoresponders is that the messages are pre-written and sent automatically. This saves the internet marketer a great deal of time and effort. Even better, the messages are programmed to be sent at intervals designated by the internet marketer. These intervals are relative to the initial request by the recipient.

Once the messages are written, the time intervals set, and the opt-in form installed on a web page, the marketer does not need to bother with the system again. Other than tweaking the content and intervals of the messages, and possible unscheduled broadcasts, the system runs automatically. What is the best way to schedule autoresponder messages?

Scheduling Autoresponder Messages

This article offers three methods of scheduling autoresponder messages: 1) steady intervals, 2) decreasing frequency, and 3) content-based.

1. Steady Interval Scheduling

Scheduling autoresponder messages at steady intervals means that the interval between messages is the same for all messages. This method is useful for delivering information on a periodic basis, such as a weekly e-course or a monthly reminder list. Remember that your subscribers are likely receiving other autoresponder courses too, so daily messages are probably too intrusive. When delivering content that is not time-critical, steady intervals is a method that works well.

2. Decreasing Frequency Scheduling

Use decreasing frequency scheduling when you want your subscriber to get lots of exciting messages after subscribing. Then you gradually increase the time (decrease the frequency) between messages so your messages don’t become annoying. This method is good for autoresponders describing an online product or service you are selling.

You might initially schedule a message to be sent immediately, and then the next three are sent on Days 1, 2, and 3. The next few messages can be slightly delayed, such as being sent on Days 5 and 7. If the recipient hasn’t purchased your product or service by then, have some long-term messages ready. Long term messages can be sent, for example, on Day 14 and Day 21, then monthly for 3 months after that.

This method initially gives the recipients lots of information to keep them excited about your product. The increasing time between the long term messages provides reminders to the recipient without clogging their inbox. If they haven’t purchased by the end of the autoresponder sequence, they probably won’t. However, these subscribers are ripe for follow-up offers and upsells you might offer in the future.

3. Content-Based Scheduling

If your autoresponder messages don’t fall easily into one of the previous two categories, consider content-based scheduling. This simply means that you must picture yourself as the potential customer, and consider how fast you would want to get the content. This is best illustrated with examples.

Example 1: Assume you are providing the content of an e-book through your autoresponder. You have placed each of the e-book’s 25 chapters in its own autoresponder message. Now think about your own e-mail inbox. If you were subscribing to receive these chapters by e-mail, would you want a lot of them arriving quickly? Most would not, because recipients need time to read and digest the material.

Most subscribers would likely click delete, or worse, unsubscribe, if your messages begin piling up in their inboxes. This type of material does not require urgent delivery, and a periodic schedule is probably best.

Example 2: Assume you have written an e-book on interview tips, and made an autoresponder series to promote it. To entice subscribers, you’ve promised them your top five interviewing tips directly from the e-book. Someone who has just received notice of a job interview in two days is frantically searching for tips and finds your site.

Would weekly scheduling help this person? Of course it won’t. You might choose to deliver the tips daily, or even twice a day. Of course, you would have some long-term follow-up messages in the autoresponder series too. If the recipient doesn’t get this job, he or she will certainly need your interview tips in the future.

In Example 2, you could even set up two different autoresponders. The first would be your normal product promotion series of messages, set up with decreasing frequency scheduling. The second could be your “hot tips for desperate job seekers,” which would deliver the tips every few hours, then automatically subscribe the person to your first autoresponder sequence.

Some autoresponders have a “get next message now” function. This is a link at the end of the message that allows the recipient to manually request the next message in the sequence, instead of waiting for it to be sent. This feature is perfect for urgent or time-sensitive information.

Conclusion

Think of your potential customers, and how desperate they might be to get your information. Then decide which method of autoresponder scheduling is right for your product. If you are not sure, ask your subscribers if the scheduling was helpful to them. After all, they are the ones with the money to spend.

Use Autoresponder Wisely

Tuesday, January 19th, 2010

Does autoresponder ring a bell? I’m sure it does to all internet users, especially those who have email accounts. But, what it is really and how it works is what you are going to learn from this article.

An autoresponder, sometimes called auto email, email responder or mailbot, is an excellent promotional tool. It is used to help you save a lot of time in replying to all the messages you receive with an automatic response. However, it varies from messages that are sent through email to scripts, which are programmed to run on servers.

Actually, all types of autoresponders have the same function and that is to send out a reply automatically whenever a message is received. Depending on the message, though, an autoresponder sends out a correct reply message, which can be determined by the script or the email address.

Despite the fact that autoresponders are considered excellent for promotional purposes, unfortunately, they are also extensively abused all over the internet. Autoresponders are convenient to use on a day to day basis since they do the work for you. But, they can also be a pain in the neck to those who might come across with them.

It is important to note that when you submit your website to any directories or search engines, do not use an address with an autoresponder. Otherwise, it’s going to be a disaster for both of you and the directory or search engine. Why? It is because most of these types of websites are usually using autoresponders themselves as they send out their messages. Therefore, if their autoresponder sends out a message to your own autoresponder, they will keep on responding to one another continually. Now, isn’t that a disaster?

Using a valid email address in subscribing to an email or any subscription for that matter may turn out to be beneficial. The worse that can happen if you used an autoresponder when subscribing is that your subscription may get revoked. It’s going to be very irritating if certain group sends out emails only to find out your autoresponder keeps on sending return messages. That is why it is not a good idea to use an autoresponder address for any subscription you want to make.

Yes, autorespondes can be of great help if used wisely. However, it can cause catastrophes as well. In most cases, it can be difficult for subscription groups to trace someone who is using an autoresponder. Usually, those who use an autoresponder have different reply or from address they used when they first sign up, which makes it very time consuming to trace the address.

An autoresponder can do a whole lot of good to you or your business if used responsibly. It is easy to set up and user-friendly, not to mention its reasonable price. All it gives is convenience on your part, so don’t use it to hassle other people or subscription groups.

“a Smart Autoresponder – the Key to Success”

Sunday, January 17th, 2010

Autoresponders are critical to ongoing business success. They make sending out emails to your subscriber list easy and automatic. These emails keep the momentum of your Internet business going and lead to sales. There are different kinds of Autoresponders out there. Which kind should you choose? Read on to find out.

There are three types of smart Autoresponders:

Type #1: Autoresponder software installed on your computer. This type of software is not optimal because you can only use the Autoresponder on one specific computer. So if you don’t have your computer with you when you want to send a message then you are out of luck.

Type #2: Third-party Autoresponder. This Autoresponder is accessed through a website. You go to the website and login with your username and password. The main reason this type of smart Autoresponder may be recommended is because those that recommend it often receives commissions off the referral.

One disadvantage of third-party Autoresponders is that you could be shut down because of spammers that use the service as well. Another disadvantage is that a third party Autoresponder has a queuing sequence. This means your messages will be put in a queue before they are sent out. They aren’t sent out immediately.

Type #3: Autoresponder software that you put on your hosting account. You access this Autoresponder through your own domain. Therefore, you will have your own unique IP address. This is the Autoresponder that you should use.

Recommended Autoresponder software is AutoResponse Plus at http://www.autoresponseplus.com. It costs around $195 and you own the software forever. AutoResponse Plus is very robust and can send emails to subscriber lists that have 250,000 email addresses. You can try the software risk free for 30 days. Plus there are no monthly fees. This is a powerful smart Autoresponder that the top Internet marketers use. The Internet marketers have made millions of dollars. Why not follow their lead?
